Solution for the paraplegic drivers:

The Kempf hand-control system

standard accelerator ring The accelerator ring installed in the center of the steering wheel, enables the driver to keep both hands on the steering wheel while driving. The driver accelerates by pushing on the ring. The brake is activated by the right hand; its lever is horizontal and pushed down or forward depending on the model.
The transmission of the controls is concealed by the original upholstery, and there are no projecting parts in the knee area, which makes for great passive safety.

air-bag accelerator For steering wheels with air-bags, the movement of the accelerator ring is first transmitted mechanically around the air-bag and then mechanically or electronically to the accelerator pedal. In the case of the electronic solution, a dc-motor activates the pedal.

sliding-door & arm A telescopic door is available for wheelchair user, to help them store their wheelchair behind the driver's seat. A robot arm grabs the wheelchair and places it inside the car. The door slides by the push of a button after the driver opens it slightly.

For cars with manual transmissions, we offer an automatic clutch, the Kmatic. It is a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) controlled system designed by Kempf-Katalavox. As soon as the driver touches the gear shift lever, a dc-motor pulls the clutch pedal down, enabling the driver to shift. The system then decides, taking in account various parameters of the car, how fast to move the clutch pedal back up.
